A Gospel Community (GC) is a small group of people whose community is centered around the Gospel. There is one designated day per week that each community meets as a whole at a leader's house. There are three goals we have for the GCs and their attendants: To love the Lord their God with all their Heart, Mind, Soul and Strength; to love their neighbor as themself; and to participate in the reconciliation of all things by taking part in bringing the Kingdom of God to Earth. We believe this can be accomplished by living intentionally and participating in the six disciplines of eating, worshiping, learning, praying, repenting, and serving. We ask all our church attendants to participate in a GC and follow Jesus with an obedient heart.
Gospel Community Groups (GCGs) are the lifeblood of our church. These are sermon based small groups that are intentional about being gospel centered.
Having GCGs allows a balance between the structure of the local church for efficiency and unification as well as an organic nature that allows individual gifts to be nurtured and put in to use. Our groups have a basic plan and structure, but they each end up taking on a different “flavor” as they live out that structure.
The primary goal of our GCGs is to build and maintain genuine and authentic Christian relationships. We are not designed to have intimate relationships with hundreds of people, and therefore a person cannot be in true community with everyone at our weekly gatherings. Small groups operating properly from a Gospel center will cultivate a life that is in genuine community. In turn, Gospel centered community will cultivate a culture and a church that is working and reaching the world in an appropriate and effective manner.
How to Choose a Group?
•Look for a group with unity and diversity.
Unity - look for a commonality you may have with the group - this may be location , stage in life, interests, passions, etc.
Diversity - look for a group that has both older and younger people with various levels of Christian maturity - where want to be one day as well as people who have been where you once were.
•Contact the group leader to set up a visit.
•You are free to visit multiple groups, but please don’t date groups forever. Once you decide the group you’d like to be intentional about building community with that is not at capacity then let that leader know and he’ll add you to the roster and to their group on The City.

AVAILABLE GROUPS
SUNDAYSLee Early, 1-3pm, Downtown Newnan
This is a new group launching February 26th for Single Guys. We will spend time growing closer to each other and as disciples of Jesus. We will meet weekly to eat, hang out, and discuss the morning's sermon; but we intend to be much more than that. We desire to be a group of dudes fulfilling our mission as Godly men. As we learn and connect we plan to be intentionally developing into serving one another and serving alongside each other. The way this actually takes shape will depend on the dynamics of our group.
Jon & Nicole Snell, 4-7pm, Lake Redwine
We are a pretty relaxed, laid back group with a good mix of people with a wide age range. We are made up of a few young singles as well as families with kids and babies. We have a heart for the poor. We are intentional about serving people in Newnan and have even done some holiday homeless ministry in Newnan and Downtown Atlanta.
Jason & Jennifer Burns, 5:30-7:30pm, Downtown at FCC Loft
We are a group currently made up of late 30s & 40 somethings as well as a couple of teens. We will be focused on utilizing worship and the development of young musicians. We have also been known to eat copious amounts of strange foods. We hope to impact downtown with acts of service as we will already be meeting in the area.
Tim & Taryn Harris, 6-8pm, Close to Newnan HIgh School
We are a new group that has just launched this year. Taryn and I have been married one year and are in our early to mid 20’s. Both of us grew up on the mission field and have a passion and desire to serve in foreign missions in the future. Our group has a wide age range from singles to families with children. Our desire is to grow together with others encouraging one another (as iron sharpens iron) to live lives that preach the Gospel through our attitudes, speech, and actions. Kid Friendly: Yes
TUESDAYSCope Walker, 7:30pm
Our group is made up of college students at the University of West Georgia, anywhere from 18 to 25 years old. We are all involved in different parts of the campus. We are a new group but we hope to become a family over the coming months, and look to serve our peers at school mainly by going out on campus and evangelizing, and leading other small groups/bible studies within the different organizations that we are involved in, especially within the Greek community.
WEDNESDAYS
Mike & Amy Nelson, 6:30 - 8:30pm, Peachtree City
We are a mixed group of singles and marrieds. Our ages and life stages also vary greatly. We meet and eat together weekly.
Our group is currently focusing on connecting with each other as we learn what Christian community is all about. We currently do not serve in an organized ongoing fashion as a group, but plan to approach the PTC police department and ask them to connect us to people in the community who need to be served. Other suggestions for ways to serve will be discussed when we kick off this year.
Ryan Smith 6:00 - 8:00pm, Downtown at The Loft
The Student Gospel Community is composed of middle and high school students from around the Newnan area. Each Wednesday evening we meet in the Loft, to spend time discussing the past week’s sermon and its influence on us, as well as to spend time together, eating, and hanging out.
Our group also comes together a few times a month to study theology, apologetics, arts, and culture. We understand that our greatest opportunities for missional living is where we already are present: our schools, teams, and clubs.
Roger & Dayna Miles 6:15 - 8:30pm, Downtown Newnan
We are a diverse group of both singles and married couples ranging in age from early 30’s to mid 50’s. Our time of meal and fellowship is a very important part of our weekly meeting. Our group time is spent in deeper discussion of the week’s sermon and how it applies to our daily lives. We enjoy “doing life” together that goes beyond our weekly meeting and includes a variety of social activities. At this time we are constantly seeking and seizing opportunities to serve both the church and our community in various needs as they arise. No childcare provided
Bullwinkle Alexander 8-9:30ish pm, Carrollton
This group is comprised of mostly college students from diverse backgrounds and walks of life
This group ends up doing a variety of outreach services throughout the year, most typically involving college students and campus life. The group ends up hanging out during the week and can often be found conversing with non-believers and introducing folks to Jesus.
David Henry, 7-9 pm, Stockbridge
Our group would be similar to a College and Career group. Age range: 20-24. Most are in College, some have graduated.
We haven’t gotten to do it yet, but we have discussed working with A Friends House which is an orphanage, and also trying to serve the homeless in Atlanta.
Thursdays
Samantha Byrd / Mallory Channell, 7 - 9pm, Downtown Newnan at the FCC Loft space
This is a new group launching on March 1st for Single Ladies
We are looking forward to connecting with other ladies who are passionate about Jesus. We can't wait to learn, connect and serve together!
Other GCGs already AT CAPACITY include
Tripp & Megan Almon, West Side of town
Our group is made mostly of married couples with small children. Our group has become a true family over the past couple of years and we enjoy spending time growing closer to each other and closer to the Lord. As a group we have a variety of interests – most of which include being outdoors in some way. We have a passion for the unborn and have begun to develop a relationship with Coweta Pregnancy Services to serve them on a regular and continual basis.
Keith & Jessica Kotrla, Summer Grove area
We are "Young" married couples, mid 20's to 30's. The 20 somethings are newly married without kids, and the 30 somethings have been married 5-10 years with kids newborn to 5 years old. Many couples are passionate about and have gone through both domestic and international adoptions. A previous project we worked on was helping out a single mom with five kids with dinner, lawn care and landscaping. We all have a desire to help out orphans, widows, single moms, and the needy in whatever practical ways possible. We have another similar project as the one mentioned in the works with an elderly, handicap woman just a few blocks from downtown. We hope and pray that in whatever practical ways we can meet people's needs that the Gospel will be evident, and we'll be able to share it with those we have the opportunity of serving.
We are all young adults around ages 25 to 35 with children age 7 and under, we enjoy diverse cultures and cooking and eating ethnic foods, spending time together throughout the week, and we have also recently started brewing beer together (a very controversial topic as of late).
We are looking at getting involved in the foster care community through possibly becoming foster parents or providing respit care, we also have passions for helping eliminate sex trafficking in Atlanta and foreign missions.
Bobby & Yvonne Conaway, Whiteoak area.
We are a very Diverse group, mid 20’s - mid 50’s. We are just starting back after a summer break. We are a dessert group (yummy), not a dinner group. We try to do bi-monthly events. Past events have ranged from shooting to pottery.
Pete & Kay Benson, White Oak
This small group happens to be made up of older couples desiring to go deeper in the key points of the sermon each Sunday. We meet in a home in the White Oak subdivision in Newnan. The group has expressed a strong interest in serving with members of the church of all ages, either within the group or partnering with other groups to minister to the community.
The structure of the meeting allows open and honest discussion from all viewpoints, while seeking the key truths . Each member has expressed a desire to know the Lord better and have Him lead them into meaningful service.
